OUR TRIP TO HUNGARY - APRIL 2019

On a nice Sunday in April we left Germany from Frankfurt airport to Budapest. We were all very excited and happy to see our hosts at the airport in Budapest.

After we had been picked up we spent time in our host families.

The next day we went by bus to a Legopark before we had a welcome speech by the headmistress at school. because we didn’t know the students from the Czech Republic weh ad some warm up games and held our personal presentations.

After that we had free with our hosts.

On Tuesday we went to Budapest and the Hungarians were the guides and presented the sights of the city.

Wednesday was our poetry day. In the morning we started with the presentation of famous writers and worked on our favourite poems creating posters and visual poems. In the afternoon we worked with Viktoria Bosnyak. She is a famous Hungarian writer for children’s books. Our workshop was even filmed by a TV team.

From Wednesday to Thursday night we slept at school and created a Kamishibai theatre to the book we have written in the last months.

On Thursday we went home for a little rest and came back to school for lunch and a walk around Budaörs.

On our last day we evaluated our week at school and said goodbye to all our new friends.

we had a great time and it was an amazing experience.

TRIP TO NYDEK - FEBRUARY 2019

Ida 7th grade, Hotherskolen, Denmark

Czech Republic

Before I went, I was shy and nervous because I only knew my host, Dominica, through our messages. And she looked nice on the pictures she sent me. But I was just worried of her not liking me and me not liking her.  I was really looking forward to meeting her and her family. And the thought of talking English more than I used to do was fun.

When I went to her apartment, I was excited to finally see it and meet her family. She had a really big room that we both slept in. And then in the morning we would go to school in the snow. It was fun meeting her friends. But it was strange to hear her family and friends talking Czech. That is really a difficult language.

It was fun to taste all their snacks and treats because I found out that they apparently love waffles in the Czech Republic. And it was fun to see their school because it was not so big. But in the inside, it looked big because I did not know the place that well.

I think we made a good friendship through the hole week and we just had fun talking and laughing. But it was sad to say goodbye to a lot of sweet and nice people.

Mads 7th grade, Hotherskolen, Denmark

My trip to Nýdek. Before the trip, I was a little afraid to fly, because it was my first time, I did it, I survived my first flight, even though it was a horror flight, with snow storm over Prague and having to land in Vienna, before going back to Prague and landing on the icy lane.

My host was Jirka. I lived in a house with 2 levels.  So my family was a brother, mother and father.  He also had another brother, but he wasn´t home, so I got his room. The first night I was tired (because of a long, time travelling) so I fell asleep fast. The next morning, I got oatmeal, and my host some bread, we went to school in a bus, I thought that the school was big, but it really wasn´t. There were not that many students, as in our school. We had an icebreaker in the first lessons, and in the break, we played table tennis. In the afternoon we went out to have pizza, with the other students. We had some group presentations and personal presentation the next days, and we had lots of fun in the snow, both sledging and going cross country skiing.

I found out that I don’t have to be that shy and during the week my english improved. It was nice to meet both the German and Czech pupils and I made friends with many of them. We are in contact by messenger.

Czech Republic – trip

Sofie from 7th grade in Denmark

Before I left for the Czech Republic, I wonder if Ema had changed, how here family looked like, how I was going to be treated and how their house looked like. When we arrived at Nydek after a long train trip from Praha and a longer flight length than expected, Ema, my host and her dad picked me up at the train station, where they had their car and we went to their home. Next day we went to the school by bus, in the school we met all the other student from Czech Republic and Germany, there we needed to learn more about each other, and it was also the awkward part, but after that we all had fun. We got a showing around and saw their school, I thought their school was a bit difficult to ours, so I didn’t know the way to everything, but I got used to it during the week. Every morning my host mother asked me what I would like to get for breakfast and for lunch. My host father was the best at English in Emas family, she also had a little brother who was practising his English.

During the week we made many difficult activities in the school and after fx fairy-tale roleplay, sledging, skiing, ate pizza, bowling, quiz about the relay book, suggestions for the title for the book and many other things.

I got to exercise my English, be braver and made new friends.

It was nice that we were not the only visitors, there also was Germans.

I want to thank Ema and her family once more, for being such nice host and host family.

TRAVEL TO GERMANY (DECEMBER 2018)

From Sunday 9th December to Friday 14th December 2018   we went to Germany.   The village where we went was called  Eschenburg and the school name is Holdbergerschule.

First day in the morning we went to  school by bus, and we participated in Giulia’s lesson. I listened to the music history lesson. After this we went to Juggling lesson, and we learned how to do Juggling. This program was so cool. After the lunch we went to the village in groups and answered to asks. When the Spanish arrived we presented the personal presentations and played games to know each other.

On Tuesday we made illustration workshop with Dirk Steinhöfel in the 2th-7th lesson, and chose the chapter’s and the cover’s drawing. After the lunch we went to sport lesson, where we played in two teams. I really liked it.

On the third day we went to the school at 8’ o clock because we travelled to Cologne and we visited the Christmas fair. There we bought presents to our family. At 15.00’ o clock we went to a guide tour in the Cologne Cathedral.

On Thursday we went to lessons in groups and presented the presentations about our school, country and home town. We visited three classes. After this we worked on the book project. After it we went to a music lesson and sang a Christmas songs in Spanish and in Hungarian song. We sang the Silent night  in our own languages.  I think it was beautiful.

In the evening we went to torch hike with a camp fire. We wandered to the forest on foot, and  we arrived at a camp fire , there we baked bread and ate it with Nutella. We got a punch, too.  It was really a exciting walking.

I think this travel was fantastic because I met new friends , learnt  how to illustrate a book and  we could get knowledge about German Christmas habits.

LAST MEETING IN BARCELONA - JANUARY 2019

Tears, emotions and feelings in the farewell of the last meeting in Barcelona. Many students from all the schools participants could not avoid crying at the final activity after the week project in Bon Pastor School. Two of them have written this emotional letter about their experience.

The thing I can say for sure is that the trip to Barcelona was one of the greatest experiences in my whole life. We enjoyed every single moment of the week. We met new people, we all learnt something new, we played some games and we improved our English skills.

The clue game, that the school prepared for us, was very creative and I enjoyed it, because we could see the interesting places and buildings that are in Bon Pastor. I also met new people during the game, it was great.

When teachers told us that we will go next day on a trip of Barcelona, my eyes litteraly lit up. I was very excited and it was really amazing, not only to see all those wonderful monuments, for example Sagrada Familia, which we all found so beautiful and individual, but how we would get to know each other more was good as well.

Meeting the Spanish booktuber was really nice, she showed us new ways to love reading and things she talked about really inspired us. The lecture with her wasn't boring as most of the topics, but otherwise it was really interesting and even a bit shocking, because the girl who presented to us is so young and already so successful.

We also got to do some visual poems, where we could express ourselves in many ways and we could choose the style.

The school in Bon Pastor was in my opinion very nice and cute, because there were pictures hanging everywhere on the walls. But its appearance it's not as important as the people in it. We have met so many amazing people and we can say that literally everyone we met was so kind and willing. Our hosting  families treated us well, we enjoyed to see new lifestyles, because it's really different to ours.

The week in Bon Pastor was definitely the best week in my life. Those experiences and meetings, it was just unforgettable. I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone from Spain and Germany, and to the whole Czech team.
